Dare to Be Alive Foundation Inc is a non profit 501(c) (3) dedicated to enriching the lives of organ/ bone marrow transplant recipients, donors and their families by providing financial, mentoring and social supports and camp scholarship funds for children with organ transplants. Dare to Be Alive Foundation Inc. was founded in 2004 by Deanna as a free over night summer camp for children with organ transplants in the Spring of 2005 D/B/A changed it's focus to providing financial, mentoring and social supports to transplant recipients. Since 2005 D/B/A has raised funds through grants, general donations and our annual Auction to assist transplants with the cost of their medical bills and travel related expenses and in 2009 incorported it’s camp scholarship fund to help children with organ transplants.
Deanna received her liver transplant December 12, 1992 and has made it her mission in life to spread the word about organ donation and guide her fellow transplants through this new journey of life. Deanna has been featured in "Woman's World Magazine, U.S. Weekly, The Wall Street Journal, The Cape Cod Times and was featured runner #13 at the Chicago Marathon, The Chicago Daily Herald and New England Sports Online for promoting organ donation awareness she has completed five marathons! In 2009 Deanna was awarded Hero of the Year award from the American Red Cross Cape & Island chapter for “mentoring” and Dare to Be Alive was featured in Cape Cod Life Magazine for it’s efforts in organ donation.
