Steeple Street Music Academy, located in the Mashpee Commons, is co-owned by Demetrius and Katherine Becrelis. The SSMA aims to be a school that is a haven for those seeking a place to hone their creative energies and connect with one another. In addition to being a music school, the Academy boasts an art gallery founded by Sarah Hale Folger, an extension of her unique project, “The Art Universe.” This project is intended to promote happiness, self-esteem, and creativity through innovative art lessons and workshops for the individual as well as groups of all ages and abilities. SSMA also opened a preschool in 2022 - First Verse Preschool - offering Commons employees and community members a local option in Mashpee.
